By now, everyone should know the importance of social media marketing for any size of business. With over a billion people using Facebook, and millions using some of the other more popular sites, like Twitter and Instagram, it wouldn’t make sense at all to miss out on such an opportunity.
Being on social media allows you to develop your brand with an audience, if you’re new to the business world, or it can help with brand recognition as well. For older, known, businesses, social media is beneficial because it almost seems to put your business on a level playing field with individuals. They feel more connected, like they are “friends” with the businesses they like.
This friendship can increase your sales, and it’s a great way to get feedback on products and services too. Think about it; social media makes people more straight forward (sometimes to a fault) so they’ll be more honest about how they feel about your product, which can be a good thing. It can help you better your products, if there’s a flaw!
Get Help
With all of the social media sites out there that can do your business good, it may seem overwhelming at first. Even if you already have all of yours set up, how do you find the time to get posts up on each of them on a regular basis, while blogging, managing employees, running a business, and attempting to have a life?
That’s where the importance of social media management platforms comes in. You can find a management systems that allows you to set scheduled posts across all of your chosen social media sites. This can take off a lot of the pressure and stress that some businesses (especially small ones) feel when it comes to the need for social media marketing.
Which Sites Should You Be On?
At minimum, you should be on Facebook and Twitter. However, just because these are two of the most popular social media sites, it doesn’t mean you should neglect the rest. Tumblr continues to become increasingly popular, as does Instagram.
YouTube can be extremely beneficial, and people seem to flock to Facebook to watch YouTube videos, so combing your social media platform posts is essential (cue the social media management platforms). Other social media to seriously consider includes, Pinterest and LinkedIn.
How Often Should You Post?
There is much controversy out there as far as how often to post on different social media sites. With Twitter, the idea of the platform is to share your day to day actions, so posting more often is OK. While on Facebook, if you post too much your fans will get annoyed that you’re always filling up their news feed, and too little and you’ll start to lose “likes.”
The key is to feel it out yourself. If you notice your number of followers dwindling, look at what and how often you’ve been posting, and go from there.
Why Social Media Is A Must
Rather than rehash what has already been said, here and in many articles on the web, let’s just say that if you don’t have your business on at least a couple social media sites then you are missing out on a lot of sales conversions that could be upping your game as a business. Do you not like money?
Don’t neglect social media. Even if you only use Facebook and Twitter, you need to have that presence to grow your business these days, and to reach the best amount of people!
